A major evolution: Our first lyrical release is out now!
For a long time, we let our instruments do the talking (sans a couple of collaborations). As we looked toward 2026, we felt there was more to the story that needed to be said.
We are incredibly excited to announce our brand new single, "Float Away (Bird's Eye)," released today (Friday, January 23rd).
This track marks a definitive turning point for The/Theys. It is our first release featuring lyrics and vocals. It marks our transition from atmospheric instrumentals into a new era of Stoner Soul.
The Story Behind the Song
"Float Away (Bird's Eye)" explores the tension between reality and escape. The lyrics dive into the universal feeling of disappointment and the desire to find a new perspective:
"I see it all from a bird's eye / It looks so small from here / Are we going up? / Are we going down?"
We recorded this at the Recording Club with producers Darren Farnsworth and Broox Watson. The track features a massive collaboration of talent. This includes Ryan Arnold on lead guitar along with a full ensemble of keys, cello, and backing vocals. Together, they helped us create a sound as expansive as the title suggests.
How to Listen
You can find the track on all digital platforms. Whether you want to escape the noise or just find a bit of perspective, we hope this song resonates with you as much as it did with us during the recording process.
Thank you for being part of this journey from the very first note. We can't wait to hear what you think of this new chapter.
Stay elevated,
