SALT LAKE CITY, UT — On Monday, September 22, 2025, The/Theys delivered a powerful and unforgettable performance at the Capitol Theatre for TEDxSaltLakeCity. The event, designated as one of only 18 TED Countdown Anchor Events worldwide, focused on accelerating solutions to the climate crisis, and The/Theys provided the perfect, high-energy punctuation to a night dedicated to authentic creativity and critical action.
The atmosphere was electric as the band—featuring Purple on guitar, Green on drums, Blue on keys, Red on percussion, and Orange on bass—took the stage. Known for their "rapid fire 'no one knows' mentality," The/Theys delivered an explosive six-minute musical interlude, bringing their signature blend of progressive energy and raw passion to the historic Capitol Theatre during the three-hour program.
Music Meets Mission
The global TED Countdown initiative amplifies actionable solutions to climate change, and The/Theys’ six-minute performance resonated deeply with this mission. The band performed a single, impactful song: "New Phase." This track is off their debut EP, 'The/Theys' (December 2023), and powerfully resonated with the event's theme of global change and new beginnings. The music served as a stirring call to presence, urging attendees to freely express themselves and engage with the urgent conversations of the night.
The energy was palpable. The band delivered a masterclass in concise, collaborative power, injecting a vital burst of rock and groove that perfectly complemented the evening’s focus on thought-provoking change.
Capturing the Intensity
We’re thrilled to share a few glimpses of the night, captured brilliantly by the talented photographer, Scott Henderson. His eye for detail and ability to freeze the moment perfectly showcase the scale of the Capitol Theatre and the pure rock energy The/Theys brought to the stage.
A massive thank you to the TEDxSaltLakeCity team for including The/Theys in such a meaningful and important global event. It was an honor to contribute to the conversation surrounding climate action through the power of music.
